Privacy policy
The short version: Acronymer works on your device. It has no account, no analytics and no ads, and it never records, stores or sends your audio. The only time it connects to the internet is a one-time model download that you choose to start.
Who we are
Acronymer is made by Ramify Studios (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what the app does with information when you use it. If you have a question, email support@ramifystudios.com.
What we collect
Nothing. Acronymer has no account or sign-in, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking and no third-party software development kits. We never receive your audio, your transcripts, your meetings or your acronym library.
Your microphone and speech
When you start listening, Acronymer uses your device’s microphone. Apple’s speech recognition turns the audio into text on your device, and Acronymer looks for acronyms in that text. The audio is never recorded, stored or sent anywhere.
You can turn microphone access off at any time: on iPhone and iPad in Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone, and on a Mac in System Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone.
If your device doesn’t yet have Apple’s speech model for your language, Acronymer can ask the system to install it when you choose to. Apple downloads and manages that model under Apple’s privacy policy.
What stays on your device
Acronymer keeps the following in its own storage on your device. It doesn’t send any of it to us or to anyone else.
- Your library and settings: the fields you use and their order, the acronyms and fields you add or import, and your preferences.
- Saved meetings: each meeting’s title, date and length, the fields it used, its glossary (each acronym, its meaning, how often it came up and the few words around where it was first heard) and any acronyms it didn’t recognize.
- Transcripts: off by default. If you turn on “Keep transcripts with meetings”, the meeting’s transcript is saved with its glossary, on your device.
- The d1-3B model, if you download it (see below).
Your device’s own backups, such as iCloud Backup or a backup to your computer, may include Acronymer’s library and meetings, as they do for most apps. Apple and your computer handle those backups. The d1-3B model file is excluded from backups.
Sharing
Nothing leaves Acronymer unless you share it. When you share a meeting’s glossary or export acronyms, you choose where it goes using the system’s share sheet, and the app or service you pick handles it under its own terms.
Apple Intelligence
If Apple Intelligence is on, Acronymer can use Apple’s on-device model to choose between two meanings of an acronym and to suggest a meaning for one it doesn’t know. Acronymer uses only the model that runs on your device. It never uses Apple’s Private Cloud Compute.
The one internet connection
When Apple Intelligence isn’t available, Acronymer offers to download Liquid AI’s d1-3B decision model, a 1.67 GB file that helps it choose between meanings. The download happens only if you tap Download, either when the app offers it or later in Settings > Decision model.
The file comes from Hugging Face (huggingface.co). Like any website, Hugging Face receives standard connection information, such as your IP address, in order to deliver the file, and handles it under Hugging Face’s privacy policy. Acronymer sends nothing else with the request: no account, no identifiers and nothing from your meetings.
Before using the file, Acronymer checks it against the checksum Liquid AI published. After that, the model runs entirely on your device. You can remove it any time in Settings > Decision model.
Children
Acronymer doesn’t collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Deleting your data
- Delete a meeting by swiping it in Meetings, or with Delete in the meeting’s menu.
- Delete your own acronyms and fields in Library.
- Remove the d1-3B model in Settings > Decision model.
- Delete the app to remove everything it stored on the device.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we’ll update this page and the effective date at the top. If a change affects how the app handles information, we’ll describe it in the app’s release notes before it takes effect.
